Oliver Bainbridge joined Boreham Wood in July 2026 from Premier League side Sunderland AFC, arriving as one of the club’s exciting young defensive additions. A modern, attack-minded left back, Bainbridge progressed through Sunderland’s Academy before signing his first professional contract in 2023. He established himself as a regular in the club’s under 21 side, featuring prominently in Premier League 2, while gaining valuable senior experience during a loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock, where he made his league debut against Celtic and also featured in the UEFA Conference League.
Bainbridge continued his development during a season-long loan at South Shields in 2025/26, enjoying an outstanding campaign that saw him named in the National League North Team of the Season. Comfortable on the ball, he earned a reputation for his athleticism, technical quality and attacking intent from defence. His impressive performances paved the way for a permanent move to Meadow Park, where he arrives determined to continue his development and make a significant impact in black and white.
