Charlie O’Connell joined Boreham Wood in the summer of 2024 from Peterborough United for an undisclosed fee. A versatile player capable of operating in both defence and midfield, O’Connell began his career in West Ham United’s Academy before joining Peterborough United. During his time with the Posh, he gained valuable senior experience on loan with Woking, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Oxford City, establishing himself as a composed and adaptable performer.
O’Connell has enjoyed an outstanding start to life at Meadow Park, making more than 100 appearances across his first two seasons at the club. His consistency, versatility and maturity have made him an integral part of the Wood’s squad, helping Boreham Wood secure promotion back to the National League at the first time of asking in 2024/25 before reaching the National League Promotion Final and lifting the National League Cup the following season.
