James Clarke is a dynamic right-back who joined Boreham Wood in March 2026 from fellow National League side Solihull Moors. A product of Burnley’s academy, he was named the club’s Scholar of the Year before signing his first professional contract in 2018. Clarke then moved to Mansfield Town later in 2019, where he made his English Football League debut and gained valuable senior experience. During his early career, he also represented the Republic of Ireland at youth international level.

After joining Solihull Moors on loan in November 2021, Clarke impressed immediately, before making the move permanent in March 2022. He went on to become a key figure in the Moors’ defence, making over 190 league appearances and helping the club reach the 2024 FA Trophy Final, as well as two National League Promotion Finals in 2022 and 2024. Since arriving at Boreham Wood, Clarke has quickly established himself as an important member of the squad, contributing strong defensive performances while also making headlines with a memorable hat-trick against Wealdstone during the club’s successful push to the 2025/26 National League Promotion Final.
