Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder, Tom White. The 28-year-old becomes our fifth summer addition, joining Luke Garrard’s side after his departure from Morecambe, and will wear number 19.
White brings a wealth of experience across the National League and EFL, with previous spells at clubs including Barrow, Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Gateshead and Hartlepool United before his move to Morecambe last year. A technically gifted and hard-working central midfielder, ‘Whitey’ has built a reputation for tenacity, vision, and an ability to dictate play from the middle of the park.
White’s breakthrough came at Gateshead, where despite early injury setbacks and loan spells at the likes of Spennymoor Town and Scarborough Athletic, he enjoyed a standout 2018–19 campaign with 43 league appearances, a campaign in which the midfielder represented England C on two occasions.
White’s form earned him a move to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, where he featured regularly for their U23s before going on loan to Barrow, Bolton Wanderers, and Hartlepool United. After leaving Blackburn in 2021, he returned to Barrow on a permanent deal, continuing to impress with his performances.
Following a spell with Morecambe last season, Tom arrives in WD6 looking to make a big impact in black and white. His work rate, leadership, and experience at both National League and EFL level make him a strong addition to Luke Garrard’s squad as the Wood prepare for the new campaign.
While the Club is thrilled to welcome Tom to Meadow Park, we recognise that his signing comes in the wake of deeply unfortunate circumstances surrounding fellow National League side Morecambe, brought about by the actions of their owner. We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the loyal Shrimps supporters – who Tom himself speaks of with great respect – and express our hope that their beloved Football Club can endure and ultimately thrive beyond this period of hardship.
Welcome to the Mangata Developments Stadium, Tom!
