Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of exciting Irish winger Leon Ayinde, who joins the Wood on loan from Championship side Ipswich Town until the end of the season.
Born in Cork, Ayinde began his youth career with local side St Mary’s before moving into the academy set-up at Cork City at under-14 level. After making his senior Cork City debut at 17-years-old in the Munster Senior Cup, Leon’s performances in Ireland earned him a move to Ipswich Town in January 2023, where he has since featured regularly for the club’s development sides. Ayinde is an international at youth level, representing the Republic of Ireland at under-17 and under-21 levels, underlining his pedigree as a young attacker with real potential.
Ayinde has already tasted senior football at National League level, spending a season-long loan with current league leaders Rochdale during the 2024/25 season, featuring 28 times for the Dale, and now arrives in WD6 eager to make an instant impact. A quick, direct and hardworking player, the 21-year-old adds further attacking options to the Wood squad for the run-in.
Everyone at Boreham Wood would like to welcome Leon to the club, and we look forward to seeing him in action in black and white at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park.
