Sir Oliver Dowden visits Meadow Park!

25 April 2025

Earlier today, the Club were thrilled to have Member of Parliament for Hertsmere since 2015 and former Deputy Prime Minister, Sir Oliver Dowden visit us.

During his stay with us, our local Member of Parliament who has always been so supportive of his local club, was warmly greeted by an ‘old friend’ in Chairman Danny Hunter, who spoke with him on a range of topics including the National League’s 3UP campaign, the financial disparity between EFL and National League clubs and the need for an advancement in sporting fair chance.

Manager Luke Garrard, his staff, and players then enjoyed a quick chat with Sir Oliver on the training pitch, before our local MP embarked on a whistle-stop tour of our ever-improving facility and was delighted with how our Club has developed over the years since his last visit.

Sir Oliver we hope will now take our concerns to the House of Commons and cover the issues we have raised including the introduction of an Independent Football Regulator, the National League’s 3UP campaign and the importance of Sporting fair chance, it’s a campaign we believe both he and the club can fully support.

Everyone at the Club would like to thank Sir Oliver for his visit and friendship over the years and for the work he continues to do within Hertsmere.

We hope to see you again soon!
