Welcome, James Clarke!

11 March 2026

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of right-back James Clarke, who joins the club on a permanent basis from Solihull Moors. The 25-year-old defender arrives at Meadow Park with valuable Football League and National League experience, becoming the latest addition to Luke Garrard’s squad.

Clarke began his career in the academy setup at Burnley, progressing through the ranks before turning professional at Turf Moor in 2018 after being named the club’s Scholar of the Year. During his time with the Clarets, he also represented the Republic of Ireland at under-18 level, earning two youth caps. The defender would later move to Mansfield Town in the summer of 2019, making his EFL debut during the 2019/20 campaign and gaining further senior experience in League Two.

James joined Solihull Moors on loan in November of 2021 and made an immediate impact, helping the side keep five clean sheets in his first six appearances. His impressive form led to the move being made permanent in March of 2022, and he has since gone on to become an important figure for the Moors, signing a new deal at Damson Park last summer.

A dependable and defensively solid right-back, Clarke adds experience, organisation and quality to the Wood’s back line, bolstering Luke Garrard’s squad as they head towards the run-in. We are thrilled to welcome James to Boreham Wood and look forward to seeing him ply his trade at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park.
