Boreham Wood Football Club are absolutely delighted to announce, following a very detailed negotiation, that their main  partnership deal with Barnet and Southgate College, has been extended by a further three years and will now run until July 2017.

Boreham Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said:

“A continuing long term partnership agreement was what  I sought. This has now been agreed and signed by the College  Principal David Byrne. Together both the club and the college, run one of the largest sports education academies in the country and as such it’s a perfect fit”.

It’s the perfect way for us to announce such an important  partnership. I believe more further education opportunities are needed for the area and the local community. . At present  many students have needed to travel out of the area if they seek further education and that needs to change”.

“For us to get a three year  partnership extension, from  Barnet and Southgate College and to be able to continue our positive  work with them , really is fantastic news. It gives me hope that we can now explore all manner of opportunities and if that ultimately leads to our PASE Schemes continued progress and local  young people getting a chance to experience further education, while not having to travel out of the area, then it’s a win win situation.” Hunter concluded.

Barnet and Southgate Principal David Byrne said:

DAVID BYRNE“Barnet and Southgate College is excited to be working with Boreham Wood Football Club for another three years on an innovative sports education partnership for local 16-18 year olds.

A number of our popular courses such as A-levels and BTEC in Sport and Construction programmes have been tailored to work alongside the Club’s elite young footballers’ training programme. It’s a fantastic opportunity to play football at a challenging level and at the same time gain a qualification at the College.

The Football Club has great contacts and previous students have caught the eye of England College selectors, professional clubs and achieved football scholarships in the USA, while other students have gone onto study at University.

It will be a College highlight to launch the renewed partnership on Saturday with Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazides, and it will be great to see the College’s name on the front of the First Team Shirts and on the new West Stand at  Boreham Wood football club.”
