DARYL SIGNING

Boreham Wood Football Club Chairman Danny Hunter has today announced the re-signing of a former fans favourite, in midfielder Daryl McMahon.

McMahon who was previously a player/coach at the Wood, returns to Meadow Park after a three year sabbatical, that has seen him skipper Eastleigh, Dover and Ebbsfleet.

Hunter said “Daryl has signed a two and a half year deal with us and has always in his absence, been a good friend to the club. He is a true football man from top to bottom and is in our opinion, one of the best and most creative midfield players in this league. He works hard, he’s a leader, he’s good in the changing room, he can spot a pass, he can score a goal and he is a threat at set pieces, so that’s not bad for starters.

Hunter Concluded “I’d also very much like to thank Ebbsfleet’s Vice Chairman Peter Varney, who has acted very intelligently and professionally throughout our negotiations. You sense his professional background and he is a no nonsense, true football professional.

IAN ALLINSONGaffer Ian Allinson said “I needed someone with experience with my young squad and Daryl is that man. Having played against us recently, I know he comes to me in good form. I saw at first hand that he’s match fit and having played for me he knows how I will want him to play”.

“I think we now have a slight advantage over some in the run in. We’ve obviously played more games than most but we have the comfort of sitting eight points clear. I believe points on the board could well count for something and having led this league for a very long time, were are there to be caught”.

Allinson went on “We are a very settled club, we are also very confident in each others ability and our work ethic has been amazing all season. I believe we have shown throughout, that we’ve got the appetite and the fire power, to win the crucial games and I know we have the ability to succeed”..

“The signing of Macca has come out of the blue. It was an unexpected bonus and I must thank my Chairman for backing me once again. There are obviously no guarantee’s in football but if this goes well, Daryl could well help get us over the finish line”. He concluded.
