The Wood travel to York Road tomorrow looking to pick up their first win in seven games on the back of a positive result against York City last week. Luke Garrard will be hoping that he will be welcoming back a few more bodies and coming to the end of the current injury situation.

Maidenhead have had a decent start to the campaign after finishing 20^th last season and narrowly avoiding relegation, they have recruited well in the summer bringing in Craig Ross, Tobi Sho-Silva, Harry Parsons, Kevin Lokko and Emile Acquah. They currently sit four places higher than the Wood with three points separating the two sides.

It’s no secret that the Wood have been struggling with injuries and that was no different on Saturday when we travelled up to York City without a win in six. We went into the break trailing but a spirited second half performance and two goals from Lee Ndlovu ensured that the Wood left North Yorkshire with a well-earned point.

Prior to last weekend Maidenhead were on the back of four clean sheets in a row, showcasing some brilliant defensive organisation, this includes a 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge with Maidenhead Utd academy prospect, Reece Smith scoring the only goal. From there they had three 0-0 draws in a row against Oxford City, Kidderminster Harriers, and Woking.

Last week the Magpies travelled to Bromley and were on the end of 4-1 loss after going into the interval 3-0 down in an uncharacteristic performance from Alan Devonshire’s side.

PLAYED FOR BOTH?

Nathan Ashmore joined Maidenhead Utd in March 2022 on a short-term loan after returning from injury. He only made eight appearances for the Magpies but the shot-stopper made an instant impression keeping four clean sheets in his final four games for the National League side.

For the Wood Nathan Ashmore needs no introduction he has been a key figure ever since arriving at Meadow Park and continues to showcase why he is regarded as one of the best goal keepers in the division. Last season he was involved in the best defensive record in the division only conceding 40 goals and was voted goalkeeper of the year for the National League.
