KEIRAN MURTAGH

Murtagh joined the Wood from Woking in the summer of 2017, penning a two-year-deal with the club.

An international with Antigua and Barbuda, he has played 22 times for his country, scoring five goals. Murtagh made over 100 appearances for the Cardinals after beginning his career in the youth academy at Charlton Athletic.

The skillful midfielder left the Valley for Fisher Athletic without making a first team appearance, but was back in the Football League a year later with League One outfit Yeovil Town. The midfielder’s first goal for the club was memorable a thirty-yard strike against Huddersfield Town, in a 2–1 defeat in August 2009.

Short spells with Wycombe Wanderers and Cambridge United followed before a more successful move to Macclesfield Town, where he scored twice in just under 40 appearances.

Having previously had three loans spells with the club, Keiran signed for Woking on a permanent basis following a short period at Mansfield Town, he went on to make over 110 appearances for the Cardinals, netting seven times.

Since arriving at Meadow Park, Murtagh has been an ever present figure in the Wood starting eleven, and played an instrumental part in the Wood side the finished 4th in the National League during the 2017/18 season, eventually losing out in the play-off final at Wembley to Tranmere Rovers 2-1 for a place in the Football League.
