Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side face play-off chasing Hartlepool United as we enter the final three games of the season, with kick-off at 12:30.
Following relegation from the EFL in 2023, the North Eastern outfit have plied their trade in the top tier of non-league football, finishing in 12th and 11th in the past two campaigns.
Simon Grayson’s side had an outside chance of reaching the play-offs at the end of last season. However, they ultimately finished eight points behind Southend United in the final play-off spot.
An established forward at this level, Alex Reid has made a strong start to life with the Pools since his transfer from Oldham Athletic in the summer with 11 league goals to his name so far this term. The 30-year-old was a pivotal figure in guiding Wealdstone to safety last season, netting on 16 occasions in the process.
Following a dominant 5-1 victory over local rivals Wealdstone on Good Friday which included a James Clarke hat-trick, it was an afternoon to forget on Easter Monday as we made the trip up to the West Midlands and locked horns with Solihull Moors and ultimately fell to a 4-1 defeat.
Chris Millington’s side went in at the break with a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Lewis Baines and Darius Lipsiuc before they extended their lead three minutes into the second half, Lipsiuc firing home for his brace. Joe Sbarra added a fourth for the hosts with 54 minutes on the clock before Josh Landers pulled one back for his first goal for the club nine minutes from time.
When Luke Garrard’s side met the Pools at the start of the campaign, the spoils were shared in a 0-0 at the Prestige Group Stadium, but we also met on two occasions during the 2023/24 campaign.
The first meeting saw Lee Ndlovu net the only goal of the game in a 1-0 home win before the Pools ran out as 3-1 victors in the reverse fixture with late strikes from Emmanuel Dieseruvwe and Luke Waterfall wrapping up the three points.
