Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s men host Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Vanarama National League South, kicking off at 19:45.
Last season for the Beavers
Hampton & Richmond Borough ended last season just one point off the playoff positions, finishing ninth with 72 points. A poor end to the season for the Beavers, with just one win in their final five fixtures, saw them fall just short.
Form guide
The Beavers are currently enjoying a positive run of form, which has pushed them up to tenth in the table. Draws against Slough Town and Farnborough preceded their only loss in their last nine games. Hampton & Richmond were defeated 2-0 by Spennymoor Town in the Isuzu FA Trophy Fourth Round, with a brace from Glen Taylor securing the victory for the Moors.
However, the Beavers have bounced back strongly with consecutive wins in the Vanarama National League South. The first of these victories came away at Welling United, in a dramatic 3-2 comeback, thanks to a 22nd-minute goal from Jalloh Ibrahim and a second-half brace from Mauro Vilhete. They followed this up with a convincing 2-0 home win against Tonbridge Angels, with goals from Jerry Wiltshire and Mauro Vilhete securing the three points.
Last time we met
Kwesi Appiah’s stoppage-time header rescued a point for Boreham Wood after Jake Gray’s first-half strike put Hampton & Richmond ahead. The Wood dominated possession early, with efforts from Whelan and Dixon thwarted, while Babajide went close for the hosts. The Beavers struck on the stroke of half-time through Gray’s close-range finish. The second half saw The Wood pile on pressure, with Dixon and Whelan denied, and Revan clearing off the line. Appiah’s late goal ensured a dramatic 1-1 draw at the Beveree Stadium.
One to watch
The Beavers’ talisman, James Roberts, will be one to watch tomorrow evening. Since joining the club this summer from Havant & Waterlooville, he has scored an impressive 11 goals in all competitions this season, with nine coming in the Vanarama National League South.
The Wood
Luke Garrard’s men have been in a strong run of form in recent weeks, losing only once in the last 15 matches across all competitions. This impressive run has pushed the Wood to second in the Vanarama National League South table, with a game in hand on table-toppers Torquay United.
The only loss in this period came against Wormley Rovers in the Herts Senior Cup. The Wood found themselves 3-0 down at half-time, following goals from Josh Asiedu, Louis Offer, and Regle Masanya. A 73rd-minute strike from Abdul Abdulmalik offered brief hope, but Ryan Stevenson added a fourth for Wormley, sealing their progression to the next round of the competition.
The Wood responded to this rare setback with a 1-0 away win over Welling United in the Vanarama National League South. Kwesi Appiah’s 53rd-minute winner earned the Wood a valuable three points to bring back to Hertfordshire.
