Brunty pens new deal!

25 August 2026

The Club are delighted to announce that Zak Brunt has penned a new and improved contract at Meadow Park.

The 24-year-old has continued where he left off in the closing stages of last season, registering four assists in our opening three league matches and getting off the mark with a sublime chipped finish at Forest Green Rovers in a convincing 3-0 victory.

He initially returned to Hertfordshire on loan from Barnet last August, having enjoyed a fruitful loan stint during the 2022/23 campaign, before making the move permanent in November for a club-record fee.

This spurred the ex-Notts County and Southend United man on to even greater heights, building on his impressive start to the season by notching 15 goals from an attacking midfield role with 14 assists to boot.

His ability to deliver in clutch moments was even more crucial in our record-breaking campaign. Netting the only goal of the game in our play-off eliminator against Forest Green and the decisive goal in our memorable semi-final triumph at Carlisle United, Brunt repeatedly delivered when it mattered most.

Our number eight has formed a formidable partnership with Matt Rush ever since touching down back in WD6, with the duo combining for 16 goal contributions this calendar year – a number which they will be keen to improve upon in our quest for promotion this term.

We are thrilled Zak has agreed to new terms on an improved contract, deserved recognition for an exceptional 12 months with the Wood.
