Also on the evening of the 20th, Boreham Wood 1st team will play newly promoted QPR X1 at Meadow Park. The date was set after QPR manager Neil Warnock finalised the details with a phone call to ‘Wood’ chairman Danny Hunter.

The Chairman said “Neil and his assistant Mick Jones have been very good to us once again and their friendship is much appreciated by all of us at Meadow Park. Its another great fixture for our fans, our players and the club to enjoy.

“When you consider we will also entertain a strong Watford, Dagenham and Arsenal X1, who all come to Meadow Park in July. It makes for great preparation as we get ready for another season in the Blue Square Conference South” Hunter concluded.

All Players were hugely influential in Wood’s survival in the Blue Square South, Manager Ian Allinson had this to say, “I’m very pleased to reach agreements with these lads as they all have great attitude, desire and discipline, as well as genuinely wanting to be at this football club”.

He added “I’m also pleased with the way negotiations are going with a number of new players that I am talking to.. Although I can not say too much at present, its fair to say I think our supporters will appreciate some of the new talent that I’ll be looking to bring to the club next season”.

MORGAN MOVES ON

WOOD U18s EASE PAST CHESHAM UNITED

Boreham Wood under 18s emphatically progressed through to the Champions of Champions final after sending 6 past rivals Chesham.

Wood took the lead early on when Pelly Ruddock worked his way through the defence to slot home the opener, Chesham responded instantly from the penalty spot after David Sesay was judged to have fouled Dan Loveday in the box, the Chesham midfielder dusted himself off to rifle home an equaliser for the visiting team.

Wood went into cruise control and quickly responded scoring three before the half, first came from Pelly Ruddock who doubled his account for the evening after Harvey Scott was to pick the energetic midfielder out with a pull back to the edge of the box for Pelly to drill home his left foot Volley.

Harvey became scorer after his assist, skipper Charlie Hunter delivered a menacing set piece into the front post space for the tenacious first year to direct his bullet of a header into the near post.

Wood soon put the game out of sight when Charlie Hunter scored the goal of the game, the youngster was able to collect a wayward clearance from the Chesham goalie for the Wood skipper to loop his effort goal bound for it to nestle in the top right hand corner.

Wood looked the most threatening after the half, with early efforts from O’connor and Lancaster for them to be only denied by the post.

Wood soon made it five, when substitute Lewis Wallace broke down the left for him to deliver an exquisite cross back stick for ever present Liam Griffin to volley home from close range.

Wood finished off the riot with second year Luke Lane who on his first touch was able to round the advancing goalie and to slot home the sixth and final goal for Wood.

Boreham Wood now face St Margeretsbury in the final of the Champions of Champions which we hope takes place within the next week.

Luke Garrard was extremely please at the full time whistle “ We showed great maturity this evening, with a professionalism and desire to go and get the job done.  They should ruthlessness infront of goal, at times we played some of our best football the movement and ability to play one touch was a pleasure to watch.  We now face St Margeretsbury in the final and we know they will be a tough opposition and we will be in for a hard game, but the boys will look forward to the final and look to do a great job as they did in the Semi.”
