UNDER 16 CUP

After a magnificent first season together which saw ‘Wood’s’ Under 16’s crowned EJA Herts Division and EJA Cup Champions, as well as Herts County Cup Finalist, our Under 16’s have been invited to take on our Academy Partners Reading FC within their Madejski Stadium.

‘Wood’s’ Under 16’s travel to Berkshire on Saturday 14th May to take on a strong Reading Academy side within the 24,000 all-seater Stadium. The two teams in fact met earlier in the campaign in a mid-season friendly hosted at Meadow Park. A resolute and disciplined performance saw ‘Wood’s’ Under 16’s run out 4 – 2 with goals from Benjy Aghadiuno, Alex Morgan, Malachy McGovern and Ejike Akubude.

Under 16’s Manager Cameron Mawer commented “The relationship with Reading is a long standing one which has been built up over many, many years and sees our Academy sides play friendly matches year on year.

“A season that includes being on the verge on clinching an unprecedented treble, with 6 players included in the Under 18’s FA Youth Cup run to the 1st Round against local rivals Barnet FC, multiple players featuring in the Reserves and 1 of the boys training with the First Team Squad, is truly remarkable. The boys deserve the opportunity to take on a top category A Academy and to play within such a magnificent Stadium.

“After the game we will be hosting the end-of-season presentation at the Club, so I can think of no better way to finish of the season.”
