Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the signing of Central Defender Jerel Ifil from Blue Square Conference South rivals Sutton United.

Born in Wembley, Greater London, Ifil started his career at Watford where he made his debut in the 2002-03 season.

Ifil originally signed for Swindon Town on a three month loan deal from Watford in January 2003. He returned to Swindon on loan in September where he further impressed. Ifil eventually signed a permanent deal at Swindon after a transfer saga which saw the clubs agree a £70,000 fee for the player.

As of the start of the 2009-10 season, Ifil was Swindon’s longest serving player – recording 210 appearances, scoring 3 goals.

In August 2009 Jerel appeared as a trialist for Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen in their 1-0 win over Hull City during the Dean Windass testimonial and subsequently he signed a two-year deal with the Club on August 12th.

He made his debut in a 3-1 defeat to Celtic on the opening day of the 2009-10 SPL season.

Since his release from Aberdeen in January 2011, Jerel has featured for Bristol Rovers, Kettering Town and Sutton United.

Jerel will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game when ‘Wood’ travel to Kent to take on Tonbridge Angels and look to continue their season opening good form.

Everyone at Boreham Wood would like to welcome Jerel to Meadow Park and hope his stay with us is a long and successful one.
