Boreham Wood’s talented group of young footballer’s have progressed to the next round of the FA Youth Cup following their comprehensive 6-0 demolition of fancied Essex side Tilbury FC.

Following on from their 6-1 win against Bowers & Pitsea in the First Round, Wood doubled their FA Youth Cup tally when they played Essex outfit Tilbury, who brushed aside Hitchin Town in their opening FA Youth Cup game 4-2.

A solid performance from the spine of the team, notably from second year prospects Robert Hastings and Sam Doolan saw Wood safely into the next Round, winning 6-0. Goals from Robert Hastings(2), Dion Laughton, Jack Vasey(2), Raheem Stirling(2), Karl Brown, Junior Abass and Kyle Thompson, as well as an own goal have seen Wood net 12 goals in their last two games, and the number of different scorers shows Wood’s Under 18’s have goals from all over the pitch.

Wood now take on yet another Essex side in Thurrock FC who narrowly defeated Potters Bar 2-1 in the previous Round. This will be the second time the teams meet in as many years after Thurrock beat Wood in the First Round Proper last campaign narrowly. Thurrock then went onto the play Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park later in the competition.
