Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the loan extension of goalkeeper Taye Ashby-Hammond from Championship side Fulham until the end of the season.

Taye joined the Wood on short-term loan toward the end of October following an injury to Wood’s number 1 Nathan Ashmore during our 2-1 away defeat to Chesterfield on October 23rd, 2021. When it was discovered that Nathan’s injury was more serious than perhaps first thought, Wood rushed to extend Taye’s loan for him to remain at the LV Bet Stadium Meadow Park until the New Year following some outstanding displays.

Since arriving at Meadow Park in late October, Wood have remained unbeaten, whilst Taye has accumulated an impressive 7 clean sheets in 10 appearances, whilst conceding just 4 goals in nearly 1,000 minutes of football.

Cool, calm and collected, Taye picked up where Nathan Ashmore left off, with Wood boasting the best defensive record in the National League, conceding just 13 goals all season in league play and just 15 in all competitions, with an overall total of 14 clean sheets.

Upon securing Taye’s services until the end of the season, Manager Luke Garrard commented, “I’m very happy to finally get Taye tied down for the season, as he has been a real positive since arriving back in October.

“In truth, he had huge boots to fill when replacing Ash, but his stats have been immense since taking the number one spot. Seven clean sheets from ten matches is an unreal return. The players and staff have all taken to Taye and to know we have his services until the end of the season is a real positive.

“It would be great for him to start his new long term loan with an eighth clean sheet in the FA Cup 3rd Round against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, and seeing us all create history.” Garrard concluded.
