Following a bid from our local rivals St Albans City, a fee has been agreed between the clubs. Scott Thomas has subsequently spoken to the Saints and reached agreement regarding his personal terms and as such decided to leave the Wood to ensure he gets more game time..

The defensive midfielder, who was such a big part of the Wood’s success last term will be missed by everyone at the club. Thomo was only signed from Chesham United last pre season but made a big impact at Meadow Park and quickly became a fans favourite and a player who the gaffer clearly trusted to deliver on the big occasion.

Commenting on Scott’s departure Wood Gaffer Ian Allinson Said “Scott is a player that I can only describe as my Mr dependable. Scott’s like ronseal, he’ll do exactly what it says on the tin. He’ll rat, he’ll get you playing, he’ll protect the back four and he’ll do the jobs that don’t get the plaudits but every good team will need a Thomo”..

Allinson went on “losing Scott was a very difficult decision for me but as I was not sure how much game time he would get, I felt it only right after bringing in the new additions.. I felt it was only right to allow him to talk to St Albans. They’re a good club, he knows a lot of the players and he’ll play I’m sure most weeks if he maintains his form”..

Chairman Danny Hunter re iterated the managers comments and said “Everyone at Boreham Wood FC would like to thank Scott for his fantastic contribution to our club. He is genuinely a great guy, he’s a truly underestimated footballer but he will always be remembered here, as being a huge part of the squad and team that won us promotion to the National League”..
