James Russell

Boreham Wood Football Club can today announce, that goalkeeper James Russell has been sold to St Albans City for a nominal fee plus a series of add ons in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and the league..

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said “this transfer was completed with little fuss and it was agreed only with James best interests in mind. In truth it is a perfect fit for both Rusty’s daytime coaching role at Chelsea and Ian Allinson’s ongoing team building at St Albans City. As I owe the pair of them plenty over the years and as I respect them both, I had no problem in dealing with our local rivals..

Hunter continued “I drove a hard bargain and insisted on having transfer fee put into the agreement and also insisted that fee must be paid to me personally by Ian Allinson. I felt that after 11 years together that he owed me at least one drink?.. In typical Ian fashion, he would only agree to a £1 transfer fee. He argued that a cup of tea did constitute a drink and that I could if I looked around, buy a cup of tea for a pound. So nothing changes there, Ian throws his money around like a man with no arms and he’s still never bought me a beer in 11 years”..

“In all seriousness though, both clubs have agreed a reasonable amount of remuneration, if St Albans City have success in their league and cup campaigns next season which we think is only fair. We have also agreed to a pre season friendly between the clubs at Clarence Park on Saturday, 23rd of July and no doubt afterwards, that will mean me picking up yet another restaurant bill on Ian Allinson’s behalf ha ha but I look forward to it”.. Hunter concluded.

GOOD LUCK NEXT SEASON TO RUSTY AND IAN
