Boreham Wood are delighted to announce that Quba Gordon has been rewarded with a new one-year contract at Boreham Wood, with an option of a second.
Gordon has been with the club for over two-years, having arrived on a youth contract from QPR.
The defender was an instrumental part of the Under 18’s side who made the First Round Proper of the FA Youth Cup in 2015/16.
The youngster made his first team debut in December 2016 in the Herts Senior Cup against St. Albans, before finishing the season on-loan at Hendon in the Ryman Premier Division.
Gordon elated that he couldn’t sign his new contract fast enough, sighting the importance of Luke Garrard and Cameron Mawer in his development.
“I am over the moon to sign a new deal, it was a nervy pre-season not knowing what could happen, or where I could go, so to re-sign with Boreham Wood, where I have been for over two-years now, is fantastic.
“The club have done so much for me, I arrived from QPR and I was very shy, I didn’t really speak much.
“Having Luke and Cam around has really helped me to progress not only as a player, but also to become a better man.
“I was set on signing a deal with Boreham Wood, so to get that chance is unreal, I am over the moon to continue here.
“Luke has told me that if I work hard I will be in and around the first-team this season, I think that I have got a good chance.”
Having managed the defender throughout his time in the academy, first-team coach Cameron Mawer said:”
“Quba has been a pleasure to work with, I saw him three years ago before I was really a big part of the academy and he is a completely different player then to what he is now, he has come so far.
“His game has progressed massively, he has become more of man and he has become so vocal in everything that he does.
“He really does deserve a new deal, he has worked really really hard to earn it.”
