Boreham Wood    1 – 0    Hartley Wintney

Suburban Football League – North Division

Boreham Wood Reserves continued their winning streak with a 1 – 0 victory against Hartley Wintney on Saturday.

A penalty for Wood within the first five minutes of the game was enough to win this hard fought encounter.    Wood almost scored straight from the whistle when Akinola was just inches from beating the ‘keeper to a through ball, and minutes later it was Simeon Akinola who was brought down in the box after his quick feet on the ball forced the defender into a mistake.

Akinola dusted himself down and confidently converted the penalty and that’s how it stayed.    Hartley’s only chance of the game came from a misplayed pass by Ruddock Yala but ‘keeper Daniel Lewis was alert and came out quickly to deny the forward.    Although Wood did create more chances they were unable to convert again but at the other end never looked like conceding.

Reserve Team Manager Ryan Kirby said “This is another great win for us and another fantastic team performance.    We are in a great position for the title, which only we can lose!    March is going to be a difficult month for us, where we will face Harefield United home and away and Camberley Town at home.    We need to take each game as it comes and hopefully come out in four weeks time in a position of great strength.”
