Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that we have extended our further education/sports contract and main sponsorship deal with Barnet and Southgate College.

The education/sports and main sponsorship contracts are both of a three year duration. They will supersede the existing contracts and begin on 1st July, 2015.

BWFC Chairman Danny Hunter said “Our relationship with the College Principal David Byrne, his management team and his staff has become very strong. That strength has been based on trust, team work and success both in the classroom and on the pitch”..

“Our Academy and PASE scheme numbers just continue to rise, they show no sign of declining and we have already trialled 500 potential scholars this spring. As such for both David Byrne and myself, it was hardly a difficult decision to make in getting this deal signed off.. In truth the club and college have looked to the future by signing this extended partnership, and it is part of both our strategic plans going forward”..

Hunter further explained “In simple terms the College will be our principle education provider and main sponsor for the next three years. The agreement will allow expansion and we hope to have in excess of 500 student/players next season and that takes a lot of organising”..

“The Principal and myself are very happy that the contract covers, three college sites, two training facilities and allows for increased transportation investment. It also allows for a wider range of education and coaching options and improved teacher delivery. The detail covers game time, player insurance, medical and rehab needs, hospitality, catering, match officials. Plus of course the need to increase our football provision to 22 teams covering all abilities”..

The Chairman concluded “This contract extension coming so soon after our promotion to the National league, can only help our scholars overall experience with us. It will also allow the college and club to improve our infra structure and allow us to enlarge our sports and education provision to become the largest of its kind in the UK… As such I am extremely proud to announce this deal to our supporters, to our community and to our very loyal and supportive sponsors”..

College Principal David Byrne said “Barnet and Southgate College is excited to be working with Boreham Wood Football Club for another three years on an innovative sports education partnership for local 16-18 year olds”.

“A number of our popular courses such as A-levels, BTEC in Sport and Construction programmes have been tailored to work alongside the Club’s elite young footballers’ training programme. It’s a fantastic opportunity to play football at a challenging level and at the same time gain a qualification at the College”.
