The 30th July this summer will mark the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup and numerous events will be taking place to recognise this.

No one will surely need reminding that the late Bobby Moore was the victorious captain that sunny day in 1966. Despite the never to be forgotten images of the historic event and all the accolades Bobby was to receive personally and collectively, later in life he unfortunately succumbed to bowel cancer, hence why his wife Stephanie set up the Fund in his n

ame and still works tirelessly on behalf of the charity and Cancer Research UK to defeat this disease too in his memory.

The club is undertaking a collection for the Bobby Moore Cancer Fund as a way of not only recognising the invaluable work they do to support efforts to defeat bowel cancer across the United Kingdom but to coincide on 30 July with celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup in 1966.

Boreham Wood’s collection will take place this coming Saturday at our home game against Southport
