Match preview: Woking (A)

10 March 2026

Tonight, Luke Garrard’s side can continue to pile the pressure on Carlisle United in third as we make the trip to Woking, with kick-off at 19:45.

Last season for the Cardinals

After finishing in fourth place in the 2022/23 campaign, Woking have had two disappointing seasons, the latter seeing them finish in 15th place.

A change of management partway through last season from Michael Doyle to former Solihull Moors and York City boss Neil Ardley ensured the Cardinals retained their National League status for another season.

The Wood

It was an action-packed afternoon in Hertfordshire last time out as we beat Brackley Town 5-3 to make it back-to-back league wins. The Wood were in a commanding first-half position thanks to strikes from Matt Rush, Lewis Richardson and Abdul Abdulmalik to give us a three-goal lead.

Shane Bryne’s strike on the stroke of the interval reduced the deficit to two and the comeback was complete after goals from Ben Wodskou and Zak Brown inside the first 10 minutes into the second-half. Nonetheless, the Wood restored their lead courtesy of Zak Brunt from the spot before Rush got his second of the afternoon six minutes from time.

Previous meetings

The reverse meeting with the Cardinals came back at the end of September and the Wood prevailed with a 1-0 victory thanks to a first-half Matt Rush strike.
