Match preview: West Bromwich Albion U21 (H)

8 September 2025

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side welcome West Bromwich Albion U21’s in the second National League Cup match of the season, kicking off at 19:45.

Last season for the young Baggies

Occupants of Premier League 2, the Baggies finished in 18th place last term which meant they failed to qualify for the elimination play-offs by two points to Liverpool.

They also competed in the inaugural National League Cup last term as they finished bottom in Group D with two points.

One to watch

Coming through the ranks at The Hawthorns, midfielder Cole Deeming will be looking to spearhead a successful National League Cup campaign this season. The 18-year-old made his first-team debut in a Carabao Cup victory over Fleetwood Town last season and also put pen to paper on a professional deal last summer.

The Wood

Climbing into the play-offs following a convincing 3-0 victory over Morecambe at the weekend, our attentions turn back to the National League Cup as we look to continue our unbeaten run.

A debut goal for Lewis Richardson and a Matt Rush brace sealed the three points, making it 14 points out of a possible 18 in our last five.
