Match preview: Truro City (H)

17 February 2026

Tonight, Luke Garrard’s side meet Truro City with a place in the National League Cup final on the line, kicking-off at 19:30.

Last season for the Tinners

It was a season to remember for John Askey’s side as they secured promotion to the Enterprise National League by becoming the first club from Cornwall to be promoted to the top tier of non-league football.

With six teams in with a chance of clinching the title on the final day, Truro’s 5-2 victory over St Albans City ensured they went up on goal difference.

One to watch

Former Plymouth Argyle forward Luke Jephcott will be looking to play a key role in their aim of survival after a wealth of experience in the Football League. Having signed on a permanent basis in the summer after a successful loan stint, the former Wales U21 international netted 33 goals over five years at Home Park.

The Wood

After our last-minute league victory over Yeovil Town to return to winning ways, we had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw at Eastleigh on Saturday. Aaron Blair broke the deadlock on ten minutes before the Wood struck back to take the lead with goals from Zak Brunt and Lewis Richardson on 20 minutes and 25 minutes respectively.

We were unable to hold onto that lead though as Swindon Town loanee Jake Tabor equalised 11 minutes into the second-half to ensure it finished honors even.

Previous meetings

We locked horns with Truro at home in August and Tom White got us on way with his fine strike on 27 minutes before Will Dean drew level seven minutes later. Matt Rush had the final say with his goal three minutes into additional time to see us pick up a 2-1 win.

In the National League South last season, the Wood truimphed in the first meeting thanks to a 1-0 win with Charles Clayden netting the only goal of the game before the Tinners prevailed thanks to a 2-1 victory in the subsequent meeting.
