Match preview: Truro City (H)

24 August 2025

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side host Truro City in the Enterprise National League as we look to follow-up our first win of the campaign against Braintree Town, kicking off at 15:00.

Last season for the Tinners

It was a season to remember for John Askey’s side as they secured promotion to the National League by becoming the first club from Cornwall to be promoted to the top tier of non-league football.

With six teams in with a chance of clinching the title on the final day, Truro’s 5-2 victory over St Albans City ensured they went up on goal difference.

Last time we met

We met on two occasions in the National League South last season with the first clash coming in November in Hertfordshire as Charles Clayden netted the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory.

The reverse fixture at the Truro Sports Hub saw the hosts run out as 2-1 victors – Chris Bush’s strike four minutes from time halved the deficit following goals from Luke Jephcott and Jaze Kabia.

One to watch

Former Plymouth Argyle forward Jephcott will be looking to play a key role in their aim of survival after a wealth of experience in the Football League. Having signed on a permanent basis in the summer after a successful loan stint, the former Wales U21 international netted 33 goals over five years at Home Park.

The Wood

A memorable night under the lights on Wednesday saw the Wood pick up our first win of the National League campaign against Braintree Town. Luke Norris took the lead from the spot after 31 minutes before Marley Marshall-Miranda equalised just before the break. However, Norris was on hand once again to net the winner for his fourth goal in the last two outings.

At this early point in the season, Garrard’s side currently occupy ninth place with one win, one draw and one loss.
