Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side embark on our second game within the space of four days to face Solihull Mooors as we enter the final four games of the season, with kick-off at 15:00.
Having reached the play-off final in the 2023/24 season, the Moors failed to build on the foundations laid as a main part of that success. Manager Andy Whing, now of Brackley Town, departed to join Sky Bet League Two outfit Barrow and a 14th place finish followed as they avoided the drop with games to spare, finishing six points ahead of Dagenham & Redbridge in the final relegation place.
A fan favourite who has put pen to permanent terms in the West Midlands, Joe Sbarra has been in fine form since coming back to Solihull. He previously made a name for himself with the Moors during a four-year spell, playing an integral role in them finishing in the higher echelons of the National League table and reaching a Promotion Final and FA Trophy final in 2024. The attacking midfielder’s standout displays caught the attention of Doncaster Rovers who sealed his services ahead of the 2024/25 season before his return to Damson Park.
It was an emphatic showing last time out at Meadow Park as we secured a 5-1 win over local rivals Wealdstone. James Clarke netted a nine-minute brace to put the Wood two ahead in the first half before the Stones looked to find a route back into the game, halving the deficit courtsey of Sean Adarkwa on 48 minutes.
However, we reasserted our dominance on proceedings as Zak Brunt restored the two-goal cushion five minutes later before Clarke netted his hat-trick from the spot with 74 minutes on the clock. A fifth was added 11 minutes from time thanks to a sublime strike from Abdul Abdulmalik to net his 12th league goal of the canpaign.
Chris Millington’s side made the trip to Hertfordshire in the final game of 2025 and the Wood prevailed with a 2-1 win. Regan Booty netted the opener with a sublime free-kick into the top corner 10 minutes into proceedings before the Moors drew level courtesy of Sbarra 16 minutes later. However, Matt Rush would net the winner with a composed strike on 39 minutes to ensure we ended a memorable calendar year on a high.
