Match preview: Crawley Town (H)

31 October 2025

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side will be looking to cause an upset as we welcome Sky Bet League Two outfit Crawley Town to WD6 in the Emirates FA Cup First Round, kicking-off at 15:00.

Last season for the Red Devils

Forest Green nearly made an immediate return to Sky Bet League Two last term after finishing in third place. However, they fell short in the play-offs after a penalty shootout defeat to finalists Southend United which resulted in the departure of Steve Cotterill.

One to watch

A familiar face for Wood fans, Kabongo Tshimanga is back at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park tomorrow afternoon after two successful spells. The 28-year-old frontman netted 38 goals across two years which earned him a move to Peterborough United in 2023 before going on to feature for Football League sides Fleetwood Town and Swindon Town.

The Wood

Our 17-game unbeaten came to an end last time out in our trip to Forest Green Rovers. Jili Buyabu broke the deadlock on 34 minutes before Matt Rush pulled one back 20 minutes into the second-half. However, Harvey Bunker ensured the three points would remain in Gloucestershire with his strike from the spot 15 minutes from time.

We progressed to this stage of the FA Cup thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 triumph at Eastbourne Borough three weeks ago, Rush, Abdul Abdulmalik and Junior Dixon were all on the scoresheet.

Last time we met

We have never faced off with the Red Devils in a league encounter but we met in a FA Trophy tie back in the 2005/06 season. Ian Cooper and Leon Archer netted the only goals of the game in a 2-0 away win as the Wood progressed to the quarter-finals.
