Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side will be looking to create more history as we entertain Burton Albion of Sky Bet League One in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, kicking-off at 15:00.
Following a troubled season which saw Saturday’s visitors struggle for the most part, they managed to retain their third tier status for another season despite a final day defeat to Charlton Athletic. The Staffordshire-based outfit finished one place and one point above Crawley Town in the final relegation spot to survive.
A lethal striker in the National League in recent seasons and now plying his trade in League One, Tyrese Shade has had an influential impact in Staffordshire since his arrival in the summer. He made loan stints at Walsall and Solihull Moors to gain first-team minutes having been on the books at Leicester City and following a spell at Swindon Town, the 25-year-old joined Eastleigh and scored 14 goals for the Spitfires.
Due the postponement of our home clash with York City, we were last in action when we faced Solihull Moors and ran out as 2-1 victors. Regan Booty broke the deadlock with a stunning free-kick on ten minutes before Joe Sbarra grabbed the equaliser. However, Matt Rush would continue his fine form in front of goal as he restored the one-goal cushion just before the break.
We progressed to this stage of the Emirates FA Cup thanks to a convincing 3-0 win over Newport County of League Two, courtesy of goals from Jeff King, Booty and Rush.
Tomorrow’s showdown will be our first clash with the Brewers.
