Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side embark on the start of our Isuzu FA Trophy campaign as we host fellow Enterprise National League outfit Brackley Town, kicking-off at 15:00.
It was a historic campaign for the Northamptonshire-based outfit as they secured promotion to the Enterprise National League for the first time in their history as champions. After losing out in the play-offs in three of the past five seasons, Brackley finished top of the table with 92 points on the board to secure a long-awaited promotion to non-league’s top tier.
A proven striker in the National League North who is now plying his trade with the Saints, Danny Waldron will be looking to ensure Brackley maintain their National League status. The 29-year-old netted 16 goals in 25 league appearances during the first half of the 2023/24 season which earned him a move to Southend United before featuring for Tamworth towards the end of last term.
We made more history in the Emirates FA Cup last time out in front of the TV cameras as we ran out as 3-0 winners over Sky Bet League Two side Newport County. Jeff King and Regan Booty gave us a two-goal lead before Matt Rush put the icing on top of the cake with his strike on 59 minutes.
We have already met on one occasion in the league this term as we made the trip to St James Park. After Rush opened the scoring just before the break, further strikes from Abdul Abdulmalik and Erico Sousa ensured we headed back to Herfordshire with three points.
