Match preview: Boston United (H)

30 January 2026

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side end January with the visit of Boston United in the Enterprise National League, kicking-off at 15:00.

Last season for the Pilgrims

Following a slow start to the season with promotion from the National League North, the appointment of former Newport County boss Graham Coughlan proved to be a pivotal turning point in their season.

They finished in 19th place and three points outside of the relegation zone after looking destined for the drop, helped by a six-game unbeaten run in March which ensured they would retain their National League status.

One to watch

A proven goal-scorer at this level, Lenell John-Lewis will play a key role in ensuring Boston retain their National League status this term. Formely of sides including York City, Grimsby Town and Newport County, the 36-year-old has netted on nine occasions in 27 league appearances this season.

The Wood

After back-to-back defeats in the league to Scunthorpe United and Altrincham, it was vital to bounce back at home to Brackley Town in the quarter-finals of the National League Cup.

A convincing 5-2 victory followed as Matt Rush netted an 18-minute brace before Femi Ilesanmi and Charles Clayden got in on the act as we had a comfortable four-goal cushion. The Saints were far from out of this one though as Connor Hall and Morgan Roberts got two back but Cameron Coxe would ice the cake with his strike four minutes into second half additional time.

Previous meetings

Our last clash with the Pilgrims came in September when we made the trip to The Jakemans Community Stadium. Zak Brunt opened the scoring four minutes into the second-half before the advantage was doubled 12 minutes later thanks to a composed strike from Abdul Abdulmalik.
