Boreham Wood FC is delighted to announce that Ted Curd has returned to the club on a season-long loan from Chelsea FC.
Curd has been part of Chelsea’s academy setup since the age of nine, progressing steadily through the youth ranks at Cobham before signing his first professional contract with the Blues in February of 2023. The England youth international impressed during a loan spell with Hashtag United, earning the Man of the Match award on his league debut against Kingstonian in September 2023. He went on to make 16 appearances and kept four clean sheets before being recalled by Chelsea in January 2024.
Curd spent the first half of the 2024–25 campaign on loan at Hampton & Richmond Borough, featuring in the National League South before returning to Stamford Bridge in January. On the international stage, he has represented England at under-17 level, featuring at the 2023 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and earning selection for the FIFA U-17 World Cup later that year. He has since progressed to the England under-19s, making his debut against Portugal in October of last year.
Having joined the club in November 2025, Curd made his Boreham Wood debut against Tamworth later that month, immediately stepping into a first-team role despite his age. He went on to make 24 National League appearances, alongside 10 cup appearances, keeping an impressive 11 National League clean sheets in the process. Such a record is a testament to Curd’s goalkeeping ability.
In his spell at Meadow Park, Curd impressed with his catlike reflexes and composed distribution. Although only 19 when he embarked on his Wood career, Curd quickly got to grips with National League football, impressing with several top performances in important games. He featured heavily in our playoff run, including the 2-1 extra time victory over Carlisle United, and was recognised as ‘Man of the Match’ for his performance against Southend.
Luke Garrard expressed his excitement about welcoming Ted back to the group. “When this got presented to me, it was a no brainer. The opportunity to bring back Ted and compete for the number one shirt with Luca was something I felt would bode well for all involved. We know what characteristics and personality Ted brings and to have two of the best young talents fighting it out for the number one shirt really excites me.
Now it’s over to both of them to raise their game and bring that much needed competition in that area of the pitch.”
