Match preview: FC Halifax Town (A)

13 March 2026

Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s can make it four league matches unbeaten as we head to seventh-placed FC Halifax Town, with kick-off at 15:00.

Last season for the Shaymen

A regular in the Enterprise National League, FC Halifax finished in sixth place after another positive campaign, seeing them lock horns with eventual winners Oldham Athletic in the Play-Off Eliminator. A 4-0 win ensued for the Latics with the bulk of damage being done in the first 12 minutes thanks to strikes from Joe Garner, Mark Kitching and Mike Fondop before Joe Pritchard iced the cake nine minutes into the second half.

One to watch

A young forward who will no doubt be aiming to work his way up the leagues, David Kawa has been a crucial element going forward for FC Halifax this term. Having been in the U21’s set-up at Peterborough United following a successful spell at Sevenoaks Town, the 22-year-old made a name for himself at Aveley last term, netting 11 goals and racking up three assists for the Millers ahead of his move to West Yorkshire in the summer.

The Wood

Following back-to-back home wins over York City and Brackley Town, the Wood made the trip to Woking on Tuesday night as we looked to pile the pressure on third-place Carlisle United. It was looking like the ideal start when Matt Rush put us ahead 21 minutes in but the momentum shifted when Marley Marshall-Miranda was dismissed eight minutes later.

The Cardinals subsequently dominated and levelled through Tim Akinola 11 minutes into the second period before Aaron Drewe put them ahead nine minutes from time. Nevertheless, Rush came up with the goods as he netted his brace in the sixth minute of additional time to ensure we salvaged a point to head back to Hertfordshire with.

Previous meetings

We welcomed the Shaymen to the Mangata Developments at the end of November and ran out as 2-1 victors. Lewis Richardson broke the deadlock with 19 minutes on the clock thanks to an excellent team goal before Erico Sousa doubled the advantage on 67 minutes. Owen Devenport’s strike for the vistors five minutes into additional time didn’t prove to be enough to initiate a late comeback.
