Tomorrow, Luke Garrard’s side will be looking to end a memorable year on a high as we welcome Solihull Moors in our final clash of 2025, kicking-off at 19:45.
Having reached the play-off final in the 2023/24 season, the Moors failed to build on the foundations laid as a main part of that success, manager Andy Whing, departed to join Sky Bet League Two outfit Barrow in January. A 14th-place finish followed as they avoided relegation with games to spare, finishing six points ahead of Dagenham & Redbridge in the final relegation place.
A fan favourite who has returned to the West Midlands on loan, Joe Sbarra has been in fine form since coming back to Solihull. He made a name for himself with the Moors in a four-year spell, playing an integral role in them finishing in the higher echelons of the National League table and reaching a play-off and FA Trophy final in 2024. The attacking midfielder’s standout displays caught the attention of Doncaster Rovers who sealed his services ahead of the 2024/25 season.
It was a Boxing Day to remember last time out as we made the short trip to Grosvenor Vale to lock horns with local rivals Wealdstone. Abdul Abdulmalik’s dinked finish within two minutes set the tone for a dominant showing before Matt Rush continued his fine goal-scoring exploits as he doubled our advantage with 27 minutes on the clock.
Lewis Richardson netted twice in the space of 30 minutes to ensure we picked up three points on our final away day of the year in a 4-0 victory.
Last time out against the Moors, the Wood suffered a 2-0 defeat away from home in March 2024 – we haven’t locked horns with Tuesday’s opponents since our last season in the National League. The Wood rearguard held firm until the 73rd minute as Callum Maycock drilled home before Tahvon Campbell doubled their advantage with five minutes remaining to secure a 2-0 win.
