Today our Club, and we feel our community, mourn the loss of Dame Vera Lynn, who was always our friend, always an icon and always a true English Rose.
In these troubled times, she was not only a patriot but also a strong, proud and caring women. She served the troops and her country faithfully all over the world and of course in World War 2 she became and stayed the ‘forces sweetheart’.
Her voice is well documented and she always accompanied our brave boys as they went off to war or into battle to defend our shores and she will always be remembered by us all with such pride, with such respect and with so much love.
