WOOD GO ONE WIN FROM U18 TITLE

Boreham Wood Under 18s put one hand on the championship with an impressive 3 – 0 home win against local rivals Enfield (1893).

Wood started bright with an opening in the first couple of minutes with Harvey Scott running clear for him to drag his shot wide of the mark.

Soon the deadlock was broken when inform Steven O’Connor became the supplier when he broke down the left wing for him to drill a cross for Liam Griffin to toe poke home from close range.

Enfield had a flurry of set pieces which they delivered with real quality and menace, however second year Cameron Baker-Owers to command his box with ease and deal with any threat.

Half Time 1 – 0

Wood started the second half with a real drive and threatened from the off, and shortly after the lead was doubled when Steven O’Connor made a well timed run to meet a through ball for him to rifle his effort into the roof of the net.

Wood sealed victory after well worked set piece, Liam Griffin delivering the corner front post for Harvey Scott to lose his marker and guide the ball into the top right hand corner to give Wood a 3 goal cushion.

Wood now face Waltham Abbey in a title decider on Wednesday 20th April, where a victory will confirm another title for Wood after 4 successive years of winning the League.

Manager Luke Garrard was pleased with the performance “ We went about our work today in a very disciplined manner, our shape was important tonight and we worked the ball into some great areas. We now face Waltham abbey next Wednesday to win the Title, and we will be working on shape and set pieces to make sure we can prepare properly to go about the business as possible.”
