We’re pleased to announce the signing of striker Conor Wilkinson, who joins the Wood from Solihull Moors on a short-term loan deal until mid-December.
Wilkinson will bolster the Wood front line, adding power, physicality and precision in front of goal. Deadly in the final third, Wilkinson ranked in the 98th percentile for National League goals per 90 in 2025/26 and in the 96th percentile for goal involvements per 90.
Wilkinson began his career in the Millwall academy, spending three years at the Den before departing in 2013. He then made the move north to Bolton Wanderers before gaining valuable experience with the likes of Chester, Torquay United, Oldham Athletic, Barnsley, Newport County, Portsmouth and Chesterfield.
Having made his mark in the Football League, Wilkinson made the permanent move to Gillingham. In his first significant spell away from Bolton Wanderers, he continued to develop and establish himself.
He would go on to enjoy impressive spells with Dagenham & Redbridge and Leyton Orient. Demonstrating his prolific attacking instincts for the Daggers, he scored 12 goals in just 23 games at Victoria Road in 2018/19. A year later, he made the move to the Orient, going on to make 91 appearances and score 29 goals.
In recent years, Wilkinson has featured for Motherwell, Colchester United, and most recently Solihull Moors. After joining Solihull Moors in 2024, Wilkinson enjoyed a fruitful first season, finishing as the club’s top scorer with 13 National League goals and earning the side’s Golden Boot award. He followed that up with nine goals in 25 league appearances last season.
The 6’3 forward described his play style as more than just a target man. “I think most people will see me as a big man”, he said. “As much of a big man as I am, I’m not the generic head on a stick number 9. I like to play more with my feet, come a bit deeper and let others get into play. I like assists as much as I do goals and I want to be creative and play with freedom.”
Luke Garrard emphasised his admiration for Wilkinson, reflecting on how he will fit into the side:
“Very happy with getting this one over the line, I’ve admired Conor for some time and the way he plays is very accustomed to the way we present as a side.
He will bring a goal threat and a platform that will really enhance our forward line and bring much-needed competition in that area.
We know we have to get him up to speed not only on the grass but also our language and ideas of our style, but having worked with him the last couple of days he is very receptive and I can see he will fit it superbly.”
