Welcome, Aaron Henry!

2 July 2025

Boreham Wood Football Club are thrilled to announce the signing of young, exciting midfielder Aaron Henry! The 21-year-old joins up with Luke Garrard’s side as a free agent following his departure from Championship side Charlton Athletic.

A technically gifted footballer, Henry’s professional journey began at Charlton, where he made his debut at just 16-years-old in an FA Cup clash against West Bromwich Albion in January of 2020. His rise through the ranks at The Valley saw him earn a professional contract later that year, and by 2022, he had bagged his first goal for the Addicks in an EFL Cup tie against Queens Park Rangers, a moment that showcased his eye for the spectacular.

Still just 21, Henry has already accumulated valuable senior experience across the National League and EFL. His first taste of Step One football came during a loan spell with Wealdstone in early 2022, where he immediately made an impact. Amongst his standout moments was a stunning 25-yard free kick against Stockport County, the first of several set-piece specials. Notably, Henry also netted a sublime free kick against the Wood in a 2-0 victory, leaving a lasting impression in WD6.

Further spells in the EFL with Crawley Town, in the National League with Rochdale and a return to Wealdstone added to his development, with the young midfielder demonstrating composure, vision, and a creative spark when called upon. Now, following the conclusion of his time with boyhood club Charlton Athletic, Henry embarks on a new chapter, one that will see him pull on the black and white of the Wood.

Luke Garrard is quietly building a competitive squad for the long league campaign ahead, and Henry’s blend of EFL pedigree, National League experience, and set-piece prowess add real firepower to the midfield engine room. We are delighted to have Aaron on board and look forward to watching him perform at the Mangata Developments Stadium Meadow Park!
