YOUNG GUN ARRIVES AT THE WOOD

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce the Loan Signing from Arsenal, of their goal scoring forward Austin Lipman until the New Year.

Lipman who has progressed from Arsenals Hale End Academy, has been with Arsenal since the age of eight and is described as an exciting young prospect who is both intelligent and uses his pace to great effect. The versatile youngster, who can play either as a centre forward, in the hole or on the right wing has a keen eye for goal and that is what attracted ‘WOOD’ gaffer Ian Allinson to the player.

Austin has also been capped for England eight times at both Under-16 and Under-17 level and been a regular in Steve Gatting’s U21 side this year. Earlier this month he scored a two goal salvo in the Champions Youth League when Arsenal comprehensively beat Napoli 4-1.Lipman 1st goal 1 131002PAFC

On Lipman’s arrival Gaffer Ian Allinson said. “Austin came to my attention when I attended the Napoli game at Meadow Park and he took his goals really well. He then got the winner against Wolves in a Development game I watched at the Emirates a week later and I again liked what I saw. So when Terry Burton came and spoke to both myself and the Chairman about him on Wednesday, I was excited at the prospect of being allowed to help in Austin’s development and it certainly does a young player a power of good to be around a first team changing room and too play men’s football.

BWFC Chairman Danny Hunter said “I’d especially like to thank Terry Burton, Liam Brady and David Miles for making this happen. It further cements a wonderful partnership with Arsenal and the Development squad who play here. I hope it’s a loan that is successful for all parties, especially the boy”.
