WOOD WELCOME THE PRO CLUBS

28 June 2016
PRE SEASON 2016

Once again BWFC have given our supporters a fantastic set of pre season fixtures to look forward to.. With our players and triallists having returned to training on Monday, they are sure to test our squad to the limit and get us fit and ready for our second season as a National Premier League club..

We will of course build things up gradually and will of had 6 training sessions, by the time we host our opening pre season game on Friday July 8th, when Dean Smith brings Brentford from the Championship to Meadow Park, for what has become a regular fixture over the past three pre seasons..

That evening we hope that fans favourite James Russell, can play a part and make his farewell Wood appearance before saying his goodbyes to our supporters and staff alike. James will then join up with his new St Albans City teammates for their first pre season game on the Saturday..

The following day we then face Reading FC, who will come here with their full championship squad. This will see their new manager Jaap Stam in charge for the first time and will test our 22 man squad to the full..

On Monday July 11th, Lee Angol will then make a return to Meadow Park with Grant McCann and his Peterborough United team. The Posh as they are known, will provide a further test to Luke Garrard and his squad..

The following Saturday, 16th July, will then see an Arsenal XI, full of youth internationals come to Meadow Park. For what is an annual fixture between the two clubs and has been highly competitive in recent years due too the quality in both squads.

On Tuesday 19th July, we then host what has become another regular pre season friendly, when Luton Town visit Meadow Park. Luton also have former PASE Academy and first team star Pelly Ruddock amongst their ranks.

On Saturday 23rd July, we then have the first of our two away games. When we make the short trip to Clarence Park and take on our ex gaffer Ian Allinson’s St Albans City, (how strange does that sound??).. With a fair few ex-Wood players also in the St Albans ranks. It will be great test for Luke Garrard’s men and at this point there will be just two weeks left until the National Premier league campaign kicks off.

Stevenage Borough are then our final visitors of Pre season and the league two side arrive at Meadow Park on Tuesday, 26th July.

Our final game of pre season is again local and this time we travel to our very good friends at Vauxhall Road, to take on Dean Brennan’s Hemel Hempstead a Town.

That’s our pre season complete and please remember all evening kick offs are 7:30.. Finally please note our league fixtures are released on Wednesday, July 6th, so put that date into your diary..

It’s as attractive a set of pre season fixtures as we could possibly of hoped for and we hope to see as many of you at Meadow Park as possible. Please note, to all BWFC season ticket holders, you will get entry for half price to all pre season games…
