As transfer deadline day comes to an end for every EFL club, Boreham Wood and most other National League clubs are still very much on the lookout to strengthen their squads.

Wood’s summer ins and outs have been steady, with the notable departures of England C ‘keeper Grant Smith, plus star strikers Bruno Andrade and Morgan Ferrier to the EFL.

With such quality departing the club, Wood Manager Luke Garrard and the Chairman have quietly been putting together a new look squad to once again compete at the highest level of non-league.

So as the Premier League and EFL transfer window closes, we can now formally welcome Goalkeepers Ryan Huddart from Arsenal and Ellery Balcombe from Brentford. We can welcome defenders Femi Ilesanmi and Manny Parry from Dover Athletic and Jamal Fyfield from Gateshead. We can welcome midfielders Connor Smith from Yeovil Town and Billy Clifford from Crawley Town, plus welcome strikers Bradley Ash from Barnsley, Justin Shaibu from Brentford and Josh Umerah from Charlton Athletic.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said: “Luke and myself have I feel got most of the deals we’ve wanted done. Luke feels, and I tend to agree with him, that he now has a balanced squad that can and will compete at the level.

“But only time will tell if the business we’ve done is cute and does actually go nap for us. For sure we’ve got a bit more strength, power and depth into our squad. We’ve also got height and physicality within the dressing room in abundance. But, we’ll just have to wait and see if we’ve got enough guile, cuteness and striking prowess in the last third to match the success we enjoyed last season.”
