Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that long-term club volunteer Del Ward has been named as the Vanarama National League Volunteer of the Month.

Ward has worked at the club in a voluntary capacity for over three decades, beginning way back in 1986 and he is the club’s longest continuous serving member of staff.

During his time at Meadow Park, Ward has assisted in a variety of roles, including; reserve team secretary, youth team secretary, club secretary and club shop manager, during more than 30 years of service to the club.

On the award, he commented: “It is really nice to receive the award, but it is certainly not the reason that I do what I do, or what us volunteers do what we do.

“I think because of that, it makes it all the more special when you do receive an award. It is something that I will treasure.

“I have worked here for 32 years now and held various different voluntary roles, from youth team secretary to the club secretary and from club shop manager to helping out in hospitality.

“Hopefully I can carry on helping the club out for years to come.”

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter said: “Del was here when I first walked through the door back in 1999 and he has been by my side ever since. He is in truth a man amongst men, he’s done pretty much any job that could assist either me or our club and he will be genuinely humbled to receive this very deserved volunteer award.”

Everyone at Boreham Wood Football Club would like to congratulate Del on a fantastic and thoroughly deserved achievement!
