Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Mo Sagaf following the expiration of his contract with National League counterparts Dagenham & Redbridge.
Following his departure from Victoria Road was confirmed earlier this summer, Wood moved quickly to secure the midfielder’s services, capturing Mo on a two-year deal with the option to remain at Meadow Park for a further year.
Mo Sagaf was a key component last season for the Daggers, making 44 appearances in the league, as well as making three appearances in Dagenham’s FA Cup run to the 2nd round. In total, Mo spent three seasons at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, scoring twice in 94 games.
Mo began his senior career at North Greenford United, before moving to Italy to join the academy at Ternana. Sagaf later returned to England and in 2018, after an impressive spell at Waltham Forest which saw Mo score eight goals in 18 appearances, the Football League came calling and Mo joined Ipswich Town, largely playing for the under 23 side at Portman Road. His senior first team breakthrough came with Braintree Town, where he scored four times in 27 games.
Mo’s impressive performances for the Iron’s again caught the attention of the Football League and in 2019 Sagaf signed a one–year deal with League Two’s Carlisle United after a successful trial period with the Cumbrian club. Mo scored on his League Two debut as a substitute against Swindon Town. However, after just a single season at Brunton Park, Mo left Carlisle to join National League Dagenham & Redbridge.
Upon his arrival at Meadow Park, Luke Garrard commented “Mo is someone I have admired for some time now. He has a wealth of experience of the National League but is still only 25. He possesses real energy and quality on the ball from the midfield of the park and will definitely fit into the way we play. He has impressed me already during our week away in Barnstaple, I’m really looking forward to working with him and improving his game.”
Welcome to the Wood, Mo!
