WELCOME, JOSH STAUNTON

30 December 2023

Boreham Wood FC is delighted to announce the arrival of Josh Staunton, a seasoned defender, to our ranks. At 28 years old, Staunton joins us following his departure from Yeovil Town

During his time at Huish Park, Josh made 101 appearances as a player and even took the reins as interim manager for a game, leading Yeovil to a remarkable 1-0 win against Altrincham on the final day of the 21/22 season. This achievement not only secured a victory but also established Staunton as the youngest manager in the National League to win a game.

Staunton’s journey began at Gillingham before he moved to Dagenham & Redbridge during the 2016/17 season. It was a promising period for both Josh and the Daggers, narrowly missing out on promotion after a playoff semi-final loss to Forest Green.

The following season saw Staunton don the colors of Woking, where he made 40 appearances and scored three goals. Subsequently, he joined FC Halifax Town, spending two seasons at the Shay and accumulating a total of 60 appearances before making the move to Yeovil Town.

In total, Josh Staunton boasts an impressive 214 National League appearances at the age of just 28, showcasing a remarkable level of experience. Josh will be available for selection in today’s fixture against Kidderminster Harriers and he will wear number 26.

Upon is arrival, manager Luke Garrard added “We’ve had our eyes on Josh ever since his departure from Yeovil, he’s a player that knows the level inside out and as a person he has an understanding of what’s expected of him.”

“We’ve already seen his temperament and the positivity he brings to the group, so we are hoping that he can aid us by bringing his wealth of experience and knowledge of the level.”

Welcome to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park, Josh!
