Boreham Wood FC are delighted to announce the permanent signing of David Agbontohoma from Sheffield Wednesday having previously been on loan at Meadow Park from the Owls.
David, 21-years-old, arrived from Hillsborough at the turn of the year amidst an injury plagued backline with a number of senior defensive options out of action with anticipated prolonged periods within the treatment room. David was thrown into the deep end with his debut coming against League One’s Accrington Stanley in the Emirates FA Cup 3rd round.
Agbontohoma has made an immediate impression on the management team and his fellow professionals, as well as the Wood Army faithful, for his athleticism and no-nonsense defensive style. His contributions have seen Wood begin the new year unbeaten (in 90 minutes at least) whilst keeping back-to-back clean sheets in victories over Altrincham and Aldershot Town in the past week.
Upon capturing David’s signature on a permanent basis, Wood Manager Luke Garrard said, “I’m really pleased to have got this business done, having David on a longer term deal will provide us with the depth we need in our defensive unit.
“In his short time with us here at Meadow Park, he has not only shown great maturity for a young player, but he has been a very dominant and powerful centre half, who loves to defend.
“We know there’s room for improvement but that excites me. He’s a great lad and has totally brought into our environment and work ethic. I look forward to working with David and helping to progress his game to the next level.” Garrard concluded.
Welcome to the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park, David!
