Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Charlie Owens following an impressive pre-season with the Wood, namely as trialist A.
The 25-year-old becomes our sixth summer signing following his departure from QPR at the end of the 2022-23 season.
Owens began his career within Tottenham Hotspur’s youth set up before moving to QPR in 2017. The midfielder made a handful of appearances for the R’s in the League Cup. Owens also spent a short time on loan at Wycombe Wanderers during the 2018-19 season in League One, whilst more recently he spent last season on loan at League Two side Colchester United.
Owens has also represented Northern Ireland at youth level making four appearances for the under 19 side and three appearances for the under 21’s.
The deep lying midfielder has enjoyed pre-season with the Wood and subject to necessary clearances he will be available for tomorrow’s opening day fixture at Gateshead.
Upon his signing Luke Garrard had this to say, “Charlie has been with us now for over four weeks, and has featured in the majority of our pre-season. In that time he has shown a level of performance to warrant an offer.”
“He is a very good age and has great pedigree with his previous Club. A big positive is the way he can adapt to our style and that he has integrated into the group seamlessly”
Owens will wear the number 16 shirt.
Welcome to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium Meadow Park, Charlie!
