Boreham Wood are delighted to announce the arrival of midfielder Alfie Egan to the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park making the jump up from the National League South following his departure Ebbsfleet United.

The 24-year-old all action central midfield player offers plenty of energy in the centre of the park, as well as having some eye-catching goals in his game, too. An AFC Wimbledon academy product, Egan made his first team debut in an EFL Trophy win over Plymouth Argyle five days before making his Football League debut against Oxford United, eventually gaining experience out on loan at Sutton United, East Thurrock United and Kingstonian. He would depart Kingsmeadow at the end of the 2018/19 season with 21 appearances to his name, before going on to join Ebbsfleet United shortly after.

A difficult 2019/20 season saw the Fleet relegated as a result of the decision to end the season on a points-per-game basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Egan’s performances in midfield saw him agree a new contract ahead of their National League South campaign. He would return to the National League though, when COVID further affected the playing season at step 2 and below, making ten appearances on loan at Maidenhead United during the second half of the season. However, the 2021/22 season proved more successful as Alfie and his Ebbsfleet teammates finished third, but they were unable to overcome Dorking Wanderers in the final, despite leading twice in the game, extending their spell outside of Non-League’s top table to three seasons. Egan impressed once again though and departs Stonebridge Road to join Luke Garrard’s side at Meadow Park.

Gaffer Luke Garrard said this on Alfie’s arrival at Meadow Park, “We monitored Alfie across the season last year, having watched him live on many occasions. He brings great energy and has good ability in possession of the football. He can unlock a defence with his ability in the final third and has a real eye for a goal. He will provide much needed competition in the central midfield position, which we need for us to be competitive this season.”

A versatile and busy midfielder, Alfie will add a tireless attitude to the Wood’s midfield and will prove to be an exciting addition ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Welcome to the LV BET Stadium Meadow Park, Alfie!
